Passionate

I am very passionate about design and being engulfed in all its forms within my job. I love to work hard and play hard, all while listening to heavy metal!

Personality

I'm a people person. It's who I've always been and I love it. The people I work with are family and I'm a firm believer that happy people and good relationships make better products.

Skills

I am always eager to learn something new and I've accumulated a large amount of skills through my various design positions and want that to continue to grow.

so, WHAT IS UX really?

User Researcher

Focus Area: People

This is a role that focuses on the end user and gathering data from real people. They conduct user tests and find out what the users understand, don't understand, enjoy and dislike about the product. This is a critical part to finding out what the real problems are.

This role focuses on taking the information a product has and finds ways to organize it that makes sense based on information found during the user research and testing phases. They focus on creating user flows, site maps, structural design and general usability.

Information Architect

UX Designer

Focus Area: Content & Style

The UX Designer is the one that builds the individual screens that are laid out in the diagrams that the Information Architect lays out. This person deals a lot in wireframing, storyboarding and possibly prototyping.

The Interaction Designer is the one that helps identify how to transition from screen to screen and what animations or interactions can be used to enhance the ability to understand the content the user is viewing.

UX Developer

Focus Area: Content

The UX Developer role is where the prototypes really come to life. They have a focus on the content to create working prototypes that can be used for testing or just getting a sense of a full workflow.

The UI Designer/Artist is essentially the person that paints the screen. This is where color, imagery and textures come into to play to create an intriguing and captivating experience for the user.

all my focus areas

UI/UX

I design and organize user interfaces with a focus on maximizing usability and the user experience so people enjoy the product they are using.

User Testing

Conduct user testing to identify problem areas or success points to reveal areas we can focus on that better the product.

Product Design

From start to finish you have to understand how a product will improve the lives of its users. Mapping that all out is key from conception to delivery.

Illustration

Illustration can really make the culture come alive in a company. It can promote creativity, tell stories and spark collaboration.

Branding

Capturing the identity of a company through a distinct design really makes promotion easier and allows people to really understand who you are.

App Design

Knowing and understanding how people use their phones and what they want from your app can lead to a faster adoption rate and happier users.

Prototyping

From paper prototypes to wireframes or full blown interactive prototypes using platforms like InVision; these are great ways to conduct testing or help devs understand a process.

Accessibility

I've become quite familiar with Accessibility and how to incorporate it into a digital product. I've been a part of a big undertaking making a product fully WCAG 2.0 AA compliant.

Having Fun!

I firmly believe that enjoying where you work equates to better products! Boosting morale and bringing people together make a huge difference on how successful a company can be.

product design

I understand a product as a whole and how it can be improved through every stage of the design, development and delivery cycle through good documentation, communication and organizational skills.
