RITE stands for Rapid Iterative Testing and Evaluation. It's a process used when doing formal user testing and wanting to get a revised design in a short amount of time.
We have implemented RITE on several occasions for multiple areas of our product. The one I was involved in was testing out a feature focusing on promotions within the app.
The image to the right is showing the process we took over the course of a week of doing RITE. We did this for two weeks with the first week focusing on the login process of the mobile app and the second week focusing on conceptual ideas around promotions within the application.
I went to Portland for the second week with a user researcher to meet up with one of our clients. They brought in multiple users throughout the week that participated in hour long sessions where they used various prototypes that showcased promotions.
I sat in a different room from where the test was being conducted. I listened in and watched how they interacted with the prototypes. I took notes on actionable items I could change or update based on their feedback. I wrote each one on a sticky note and organized them depending on what area of the prototype they were referencing.
Each evening I would gather the feedback we received during that day and apply the changes to the prototypes. The goal was by the end of the week to have a prototype that was built off feedback from real users. We brought it back to our developers and created a plan on how to tackle the implementation of all the changes that came from the RITE process.
